About Bear Cove
There’s something quietly special about a cabin that feels like a discovery. Bear Cove sits tucked into the wooded hillside of the Alarka community above Bryson City — close enough to town that dinner out is an easy decision, far enough away that you’ll feel a world removed the moment you arrive.
This beautifully restored two-bedroom, two-bath cabin is built around warmth — hand-finished timber from floor to ceiling, a leather sofa framing the living area, oversized windows and French doors that dissolve the line between inside and out. The open-concept kitchen offers ample counter space and everything you need to cook a proper meal, though the wraparound deck and views have a way of making you want to linger outside instead.
Upstairs, the primary suite earns its keep: a king bed framed by natural timber, vaulted cathedral ceilings with exposed beams, and a private balcony through French doors where the mountain view is entirely yours. Downstairs, a queen bed and twin bunk give the second bedroom flexibility for families or small groups. Multiple levels of outdoor living — upper wraparound deck, lower covered patio, hot tub, grassy yard — mean there’s always a perfect spot to be, whatever the hour or the mood.
On still evenings, if you listen carefully, you can hear the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in the distance. It’s one of those small, unexpected details that makes Bear Cove feel like a place out of time — and makes it very hard to leave.

“Absolutely loved staying at the cabin. It’s absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. You won’t regret staying here! Not only the view but the cabin itself is stunning. It’s very close to Bryson City and Cherokee so it’s in a great spot. Nothing beats hearing the Smoky Mountain Railroad in the distance while looking out at the mountain view from here.”

“Wonderful cabin with beautiful views of the mountains. The wraparound deck and upper deck off the main bedroom were wonderful for evening sunsets and views of the mountains. Lots of seating options outside was great. The cabin was very clean and well appointed. Fully stocked kitchen with all of the utensils you will need for your stay. The hot tub was nice and hot when I arrived, and was also serviced mid-week, along with trash pickup. The whole home generator worked very well — an evening rain storm took out power for a few hours one evening, but not to worry, the generator starts automatically. Location is close to the town of Bryson City for grocery shopping, restaurants, and the GSMR, however, you will feel much further away at this peaceful cabin. Would definitely stay here again.”
