Rebecca put it perfectly: “you truly are in the clouds at night and early morning.” Cloud 8 sits at elevation above the Almond area with mountain views from nearly every room — kitchen, living room, primary suite, and best of all from the loft with its upstairs bed and bath. The drive up is steep but fully paved, and the payoff is a cabin that genuinely earns its name every time a cloud settles below the deck line.

The great room is anchored by a two-sided gas-log fireplace that opens into both the living room and the master bedroom — one of the most distinctive interior features in the Watershed portfolio. Leather sofa, hardwood floors, vintage accessories, Bose speakers, and a home theater system with HD satellite round out a room designed for comfort. The kitchen has granite countertops and full appliances. The loft above the main level has its own bedroom and bath with the best view in the house.

Downstairs, the huge rec room is the group entertainment center: a 9-foot slate pool table, a foosball table, Bose stereo, and flat-panel TV. Sleeping down here is more generous than it looks — built-in queen-over-queen bunks (cruise-ship style, with full sit-up headroom on the lower bunk), plus a twin-over-full log-style bunk set, sleep up to seven on this level alone. A full bath and direct access to the side deck with hot tub, outdoor string lights, and wood-burning fire pit make the lower level a self-contained retreat.

Cloud 8 is pet friendly, has BalsamWest fast internet, and offers EV charging via a garage bay and 240V outlet — contact the office at booking for details.

We stock the cabin with essentials to get you settled. Ingles Market in Bryson City is the nearest full grocery store (approximately 20 minutes away, closes at 10pm most of the year). We recommend stocking up before heading up the mountain.

Good to Know

Getting Here: The drive to Cloud 8 is steep but fully paved — all vehicles are welcome. Please drive attentively going up and coming down, especially after dark or in wet conditions. Exact directions will be provided after booking.

EV Charging: A 240V outlet and dedicated garage bay are available for EV charging. Contact the office at time of booking to arrange access and details.

Washer/Dryer: The washer and dryer are located in the garage section of the property — easily accessible from the cabin.

Bunk Beds: The lower-level queen-over-queen built-in bunks are designed with full sit-up headroom on the lower bunk and generous space on the upper — comfortable for adults. The upper bunk is elevated due to the high ceilings and is not recommended for guests who are uneasy with heights.

Pets: Cloud 8 is pet friendly. Pet fees apply and are handled at time of booking. Please ensure pets are supervised at all times on the property.
