About Tree Top Getaway

The name lands the moment you arrive. Tree Top Getaway is an adorable log home perched on the side of a mountain in Almond — cantilevered above the treetops, wrapped in vaulted ceilings and enormous windows, with a mountain view from every vantage point. Every image you’ve ever had of a cabin in the mountains comes to life here, and the execution is better than the picture.

This is a couples cabin done right. Two bedrooms, two baths, a cozy covered porch, and a hot tub with a privacy shade that blocks the neighbor but leaves the mountain view completely open. The living room has gas-log fireplace, and the great room is filled with natural light through those oversized windows. Georgia said it best: “super clean and cozy, and the beds were really comfortable.” The kitchen goes well beyond the basics — fully stocked including a blender, which Georgia was quick to appreciate for her morning smoothies.

The fire pit outside is perfect for evenings under the stars. And when you’re ready to head out, the location is exceptional: Fontana Lake and the Almond Boat Park are just minutes away, the Tsali Mountain Bike Trails are close, the NOC is a short drive, and Bryson City is an easy 15 minutes. Remote workers and learners will appreciate the BalsamWest fast internet — there’s even an in-house printer. But mostly, Tree Top Getaway is the kind of place where the hiking boots stay on the porch and the hot tub gets used twice a day.
