A 360-degree walkthrough tour by Matterport is available here. This is provided courtesy Broker Asheville, who has this property listed for sale. Note that Matterport tour includes tiny metal house and yurt which are not part of the vacation rental.
Straw-bale construction is the formation and insulation of the walls. It is unique, eco-friendly, and with its plaster covering allows for a free-form design reminiscent of an adobe home in the Southwestern US. This uniqueness is what you'd expect once you know the 'soul' of this home, which truly reflects the life experiences, travels, and free-spirit of the owners themselves. You see elements in this home from Tibet to New Zealand, and every other corner of the world. The design is open-air with vaulted ceiling vents and concrete flooring providing coolness in the summer. There is no whole-house air conditioning, but not needed with fans and open windows and mountain air. Winter comfort is provided by radiant floor heating and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. The living room has the wood burning fireplace and 2 built-in sofas that function as 2 twin sleeping spots as well to achieve the total occupancy of 11. This room has a pull-down screen and projection TV with DVD. The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped with a gourmet gas range, stainless vent hood, dishwasher, and fridge, all formed by an interesting concrete countertop with bar seating. The circular dining table is adjacent for family style meals, and there is ample outdoor deck space, both covered and open.
sleeping accommodations
Upstairs master bedroom - there's a king bed in a large, open and bright room with private outdoor deck and a private bathroom with rain shower head and a large garden tub.
Tower Room - above the living room via a ladder-style staircase is the interesting tower bedroom. A queen bed surrounded by windows on all sides makes for a true adventure. It may not be for grandma, but this is a fun and comfortable bedroom.
Main level king bedroom - this is almost like a second master in that there is an attached bathroom and a private door out to the hot tub deck. The bathroom has a shower only with open design basically in one side of the room that slopes slightly to the drain. Get closer to nature by stepping outside and showering in the outdoor shower, if you prefer.
Main level second bedroom - also on the main level is a queen bedroom with twin daybed. This room has a TV and access directly out to the hot tub deck. The hall bathroom is just outside of this room, where you'll also find the full laundry area.
On-site Compound Area - On this side is a carport of the main house that is usable by guests for 2 cars. There is ample other parking and a fire pit adjacent to the driveway area with firewood and kindling provided.
There is a metal-clad tiny house also on site, but this is the owners residence and not available to rent.
A yurt on the property is also set up but not yet ready for rental occupancy.
From the driveway, there is a private trail winding through a rain forest-like setting all the way down to the banks of the Little Tennessee river. Seasonally when there are fewer leaves on the trees, you see the river in the distance from a couple of places on the deck including the hot tub, but foliage blocks this direction in warmer months.
