In the heart of the Nantahala Gorge lies this charming cabin that exemplifies the very soul of Appalachia. Simple construction with mountain touches like a poplar bark wall in the kitchen and black bear theme throughout make this the perfect mountain hideaway. The super-fast internet is anything but traditional, though. So after you race the curves of the Tail of the Dragon, or soar the treetops on one of the local zip lines, you can return to your Zoom meeting, if you must. A soak in the hot tub under the stars will be the end to a perfect day, complimented with an evening by the fire pit or just a relaxing swing on the screened porch.
Silvermine Retreat is cozy and romantic enough for just a couple, but equipped for a group up to 9 people. The spiral staircase inside might give some pause, especially those with paws (we allow up to 2 dogs with additional fee), but there is an outside staircase as well. The cabin is nicely equipped with a kitchen complete with dishes, utinsels, and serving tools, as well as modern appliances including drip coffee maker. There is a gas grill with spare tank included, just like the fire wood and starter for the outside fire pit and the wood-burning fireplace on the lower level.
Sleeping accommodations are in a queen bed in one of the bedrooms, plus a second bedroom with one queen and one full bed. There is a full bathroom on each level. Additional sleeping is on the queen sofabed plus a twin daybed which acts as one side bench for seating at the dining table.
Make sure you check out the Xplorie program that is included with every stay at a Watershed Cabin. This benefit provides a free admission to each of several area attractions every single day of your stay!
Although there are gravel roads leading to this cabin, they are level, hard-packed, and very will maintained. Thus, we have indicated this as "motorcycle-friendly" - This always assumes that riders coming to this area are experienced with mountain roads. Each individual should assess their own skill level and consider conditions before relying on our assessment, and always contact the office for specifics about towing a trailer.
