About Bear’s Den
Bear’s Den has been a Nantahala Gorge institution since 2001 — owned by the Williams family, who live nearby and also own the beloved Dillsboro Chocolate Factory & Espresso Bar. For nearly two decades the property was locally managed, until a national company buyout in 2019 changed that. The Williams family course-corrected quickly, and Bear’s Den is now back where it belongs: in the hands of the locally-staffed team at Watershed Cabins, with the personal service and attention to detail the property has always deserved.
The home is a genuine base camp — spacious enough for the whole group, comfortable enough that nobody wants to leave, and positioned perfectly in the Nantahala Gorge for everything Western North Carolina has to offer. The kitchen, dining, and living areas flow together in an open, welcoming layout. Serta iComfort mattresses in every bedroom mean a proper night’s sleep after a day on the river or trail. Outside, the stone-lined fire pit with provided firewood and the 6-person saltwater hot tub give you two very good reasons to stay on the property come evening.
The hammock says the rest.

“Very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful location with lots of privacy.”

Sarah · May 2026
“Great place! Plenty of room. Kitchen was on the smaller side but had all the basic amenities needed to cook a meal. Hot tub was a great bonus, plenty of firewood provided for the outdoor fire pit, and the grill had a full tank of propane for cooking.”
